The City of San Diego has established an ongoing program for the replacement of all aging and deteriorating sewer mains currently in service. Within a golf course a connection of the distribution water main to a transmission main will be established to provide for an alternate feed. The sewer replacement work will prevent sewer spills and reduce maintenance requirements. The program will also bring the existing sewer main up to current City standards. The Tecolote Canyon Trunk Sewer improvement and Golf Course Water Connection project is located in the Clairemont Mesa, Linda Vista, and Bay Park communities in the City of San Diego Council Districts 2, 6 and 7. The project consists of replacement and rehabilitation of approximately 25,330 linear feet (LF) of the trunk sewer and approximately 600 LF of water main and transmission main connection in the Tecolote Canyon Golf Course. Other activities include slope restoration and erosion protection around manholes. Small vehicle trail that accesses the sewer will be improved, including the installation of five total stream crossing, which includes three engineered stream crossings, the installation of a new bridge near MH 51, and replacement of an existing bridge near MH 268Z. Trail improvements will include construction of access paths to manholes and improvement of existing pathways as shown on Drawing 40034-01-D to 40034-103-D and described as follows: 1) 14,300 LF of 30, 27", 24", 21" pipe, via open trench, 2) 4,637 LT of 27-inch pipe, via trenchless method of construction, 3) 6390 LF of 15-inch pipe, rehabilitate. Furthermore, Sewer Group 836 will be included as an additive bid alternate and will be determined whether or not it will be awarded at time of award. Sewer Group 836 includes the following: 1) Replacement of 189 LF of 8" VC and CI sewer mains. 2) Rehabilitation of 176 LF of 8" VC sewer mains. 3) Demolition and replacement of existing concrete piers and pipe supports.
