Site work and addition to an educational facility in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Completed plans call for the addition of a 31,320-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility.
The university will build a 2,900 m2 facility on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Taan Kwächän Council. The building will include an Indigenous Knowledge Research and Social Sciences lab, four multi-purpose teaching spaces, and eight science teaching laboratories. Space planning will be led by function rather than discipline to optimize laboratory and classroom space-sharing between programs and research streams. The building will be modelled aspire to construct a net zero carbon building as feasible, to respect the land and the environment. The facility building gross area requirements for the Polaris Project is 2,900 m2. The site area requirements for the Polaris Project are 8,380 m2 (2.07 acres). TIMELINE: Trade tender is underway. The project is being managed by Ketza Construction Ltd.
