Funding to complete design and construction plans for the next phase of park development. Funding will also include selected park enhancements/refurbishments/repairs to picnic areas, playground, street-print trails, wooden trail bridges, wooden fencing, park signage and park landscaping. Funding will also allow relocation of the existing Fido Field dogpark to a larger site, expand the soccer fields, complete archeological studies of Warwicktowne, increase park landscaping/plantings, and provide start-up funding for improvements and projects that will be recommended in the Park Masterplan that will be developed over the next year. Major work will follow completion of HRSD SWIFT construction in 2026. This project is in included in the City of Newport News FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
