New construction of a mixed-use development in Ottawa, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 200,000-square-foot, six-story above grade medical facility; and 330,000-square-foot, seven-story above grade parking garage.
Design-Build-Finance - Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario - Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre (CHEO) 1Door4Care Integrated Treatment Centre Project. The 1door4care building will merge seven care locations, currently spread across Ottawa, into a single, state-of-the-art, purpose-built site on CHEO's main campus at Smyth Road. It will include multi-use clinic space, a physiotherapy rehab gym, expanded mental health clinics, indoor and outdoor space where teachers and therapists combine education and therapy, state-of-the-art treatment rooms for kids with behavioral issues, advanced technology to enable innovative care, a physical link to the main building on campus, family support spaces and more. The project includes the construction of a new main approx. 200,000 sq ft building (1D4C), a connecting link to the existing CHEO building (approx. 4,000 sq ft) and a parking structure (approx. 330,000 sq ft). The site is currently located on an existing surface parking lot within the overall property at 401 and 407 Smyth Road in Ottawa, Ontario. The new integrated treatment centre will offer services for kids and youth living with complex medical, developmental, behavioural or mental health needs, and will include: -A multi-use clinic space; -A physiotherapy rehab gym; -Expanded mental health clinics; -An indoor and outdoor multi-use space; -A space for children and youth with complex emotional needs; -State-of-the art treatment rooms; -Advanced technology to enable virtual care; -A physical link to the hospital; -Family support and community spaces; -A new parking structure. The new treatment centre will merge seven care locations, currently leased and spread across Ottawa, into a single, state-of-the-art, purpose-built site on CHEO's main Smyth Road campus. The new site will include multi-use clinic space, a physiotherapy rehab gym, expanded mental health clinics, indoor and outdoor space where teachers and therapists combine education and therapy, secure space for children and youth with complex emotional needs, modern treatment rooms for kids with behavioural needs, advanced technology to enable virtual care, a physical link to the main building on campus, family support spaces, a new parking structure, and more. The EllisDon Infrastructure OCH Inc. Angus and Associates Limited, Entuitive Corporation -Construction Team: EllisDon Corporation -Financial Advisor: EllisDon Capital Inc. Construction has started on the new CHEO Integrated Treatment Centre, following a groundbreaking ceremony held last Thursday for the major redevelopment project, also known as 1Door4Care. Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and CHEO awarded a fixed-price contract of $371.37 million to EllisDon Infrastructure OCH Inc. in September 2023 to design, build, and finance the project following a competitive procurement process. The EllisDon team includes Montgomery Sisam Architects Inc., Vertechs Design Inc., WalterFedy, Mulvey & Banani International Inc., H. H. Angus and Associates Limited, and Entuitive Corporation on the design side, with EllisDon Corporation handling construction and EllisDon Capital Inc. as the financial advisor. The structure will consolidate services currently spread across eight locations into a single, approximately 200,000-sq. ft. building dedicated to children and youth with complex medical, developmental, and behavioural needs. Completion is now expected in 2028. Key features of the new centre will include multi-use clinic spaces, a physiotherapy rehabilitation gym, expanded mental health clinics, advanced technology for virtual care, a physical link to the main hospital, family support spaces, and a new parking structure.
