Bids are being requested for the seal coating of approximately 7.44 miles with 1/4" Washed Gray Granite Chip in the Town of Merton. The bid will be awarded at the Town Board meeting on April 11th, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. The Town Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids. For more information, call the Highway Superintendent at 262- 966-2118. Liquid Asphalt Emulsion, heated, applied and stone cover furnished. The above to be placed with full width equipment capable of applying 24’ without a center seam. A hose and spray nozzle attachment shall be provided for applying asphalt material to patches and areas inaccessible to spray bar. Rolled with a self-propelled, combination steel-wheeled, rubber-tired roller weighing no less than 9 ton. This includes all material, equipment, labor and other necessary incidentals. A. There will be Two (2) pneumatic tire rollers used immediately after spreading of aggregate. Rolling will start at the edges and continue to the center, lapping one-half the roller width on each successive pass. The speed and reversing of rollers shall be regulated as to avoid displacement or loosening of the cover material or damage to the asphaltic material. Rolling shall be continued until the aggregate for the seal coat cover is thoroughly embedded and the surface is smooth and uniform in texture. 2. Chip Sealing and Seal Coating are considered to be one and the same for these special provisions. The Chip Seal shall conform to section 475 “Seal Coat” of the “Standard Specification for Highway and Structure Construction” 2003 Edition prepared by the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
