As of June 21, 2022, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the design phase. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to April 2023. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Western Carolina University is soliciting qualifications for design services for the Stillwell Building - HVAC Controls Replacement project. The project is to address HVAC equipment and controls that are past their useful life and are not compatible with current Facilities Management Building Automation System software. The four story Stillwell Building is a 105,334 sq. ft. - academic building, that houses classrooms and offices. In selecting designers, the selection committee will take into consideration qualification information including such factors as: 1. Specialized or appropriate expertise in the type of project. 2. Past performance on similar projects. 3. Adequate staff and proposed design or consultant team for the project. 4. Current workload and State projects awarded. 5. Proposed design approach for the project including design team and consultants. 6. Recent experience with project costs and schedules. 7. Construction administration capabilities. 8. Proximity to and familiarity with the area where the project is located. 9. Record of successfully completed projects without major legal or technical problems. 10. Other factors which may be appropriate for the project. In order to offer architectural or engineering services in response to this solicitation, the proposer must be licensed in the State of North Carolina. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time
