The project will consist of the replacement of concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, concrete curb gutter driveway depression, construction of concrete cheek walls and detectable warning surfaces, replacement of inlet tops and grates, inlet reconstruction, pavement repairs, asphalt pavement milling, installation of leveling/ scratch course and wearing course, and replacement of pavement markings. A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of Newtown Township, negotiable U.S. Government Bonds (at par value), or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total bid amount shall be submitted with each Bid. Bonds are to be issued by a surety licensed to do business in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Successful Bidder for a contract shall furnish to the Local Contracting Unit the required performance bond and labor and material payment bond, each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the awarded contract price and, at the completion of the work, a two (2) year maintenance bond, in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the final contract price, by a surety company licensed to transact such business in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Bidders are required to comply with the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of 1961, P.L. 987, No. 442, where the estimated cost of the total project is in excess of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000). Prior to awarding the contract, bids may be held by the Township for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from the date of bid openings for the purpose of reviewing the Bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders. Funding will be provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Municipal Liquid Fuels Program. All materials must meet current PA Department of Transportation Specifications.
