This project includes specialized work at 120, plus or minus, locations throughout the City of Akron Water service area on streets set to be resurfaced in 2022. The work shall include, but not be limited to excavations in streets, driveways, sidewalks, or tree lawn to expose water mains and water service pipes, tapping water mains, installing new copper service lines, curb valves, curb boxes, connecting the service line to the house line, removing the old lead service line, disconnecting lead services, backfilling the excavations, and restoring the street, driveway, sidewalk, roadside drainage feature or tree lawn. The Contractor will be required to coordinate all activities with City of Akron Water Distribution, notify customers of the interruption of their water service and restore the site in a timely manner. Traffic will be maintained as much as possible during each service renewal. Questions Due Date: Mar 25th 2022, 11:00 AM EDT, Deadline for City Issuance of Responses to Questions March 30, 2022 by 11:00 am City of Akron Local Goal: 18% EDGE/DBE/MBE/WBE/SBE/VBE (minimum 3% WBE) City of Akron, Construction and Materials Specifications, 2008 Edition, each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check in the sum of 10% of bids on a solvent bank, or a bid bond in like amount, acceptable to the City of Akron, as a guarantee, that if the proposal is accepted, a contract will be entered into. Except as provided in Section 34.09 of the City's Code of Ordinance, the Proposer to whom the Agreement is awarded will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the sum of 100% of the Contract Price for the faithful performance of the contract. The performance and payment bond shall remain in full effect until Final Completion of the Project. City reserves the right to reject any and all Proposals, to waive any and all informalities and to negotiate Contract terms with the selected firm, and the right to disregard all nonconforming, nonresponsive or conditional Proposals.
