The City of San Diego (City) is soliciting proposals to prepare a Feasibility Study for a 5th Ave Promenade along 5th Avenue from Harbor Drive to Broadway. 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp District in the City of San Diego is currently the center of Downtown. 5th Ave from Harbor Drive to Broadway is a mix of new and old developments. It does not currently contain Gaslamp character. There are some historic buildings but mostly "soft development". The requested feasibility study shall transform 3,025 linear feet of walk, approximately 5.61 acres of public realm to a pedestrian accessible promenade. The study will provide recommendations to transform 5th Avenue's image. The mobility department would like to appeal to a "larger audience", prioritize pedestrians, not automobiles, create a unique experience within San Diego, allow small development in the public realm, allow spillover seating and create a brand new image for the Gaslamp. The Scope of Services defines the extent of Design Professional services necessary to complete the required work and documents specified herein for a Feasibility Study for 5th Ave Promenade, herein referred to as the Project.
