Renovation of a transportation facility in Vandalia, Ohio. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
Plans call to renovate multiple areas in an effort to enhance public circulation and improve functionality for travelers and staff. This includes renovations to the TSA checkpoint and elevators; roof, window and cooling tower replacements, and brick masonry pointing. The public circulation enhancements are the next step of the airport's renovation efforts. Previous phases of the terminal modernization project included full glass curtain walls along the front entrance, terrazzo flooring depicting the history of aircraft in the Dayton region, additional restrooms, new HVAC, LEED certifications, lighted bollards along the ADA entrance drive and new glass shelters on the entrance drive, valet parking stations and other ground transportation stations. As of June 3, 2022, the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration awarded a $6.6 million grant to the city of Dayton for upgrades to the Dayton International Airport. The funds will be used to help make necessary repairs to the airport's apron and its critical infrastructure. Further details regarding design and construction timelines have not been identified.
