This work shall consist of placing and compacting clean fill followed by topsoil and seeded with hydro-seed. The work shall be preformed at locations marked by the Town in the field. Non-Curbed Areas - Areas shall be backfilled to a subgrade with clean fill. Topsoil to be placed with a minimum of three (3) inches and raked finished. Areas requiring less than three (3) inches of material shall be fine graded solely with topsoil The area behind the curb shall be back-filled with clean fill to two (2) inches of the top of curb. Topsoil to be placed with a minimum of three (3) inches and raked finished (The curb is overfilled to allow for settlement.) Hydro-seed shall then be applied. The contractor shall be responsible for the following items: 1) All materials except for the hydro-seed will be provided by the Town of Newtown, and stored at the Highway Garage, 4 Turkey Hill Road. The Town will be responsible for loading all trucks. 2) The Contractor is responsible for picking up materials and delivering them to the site. The Town will not deliver material. 3) Prior to placing fill, areas shall be clean of debris (leaves, sticks, rocks, etc.). Any unsuitable material shall be disposed of at Public Works Garage, 4 Turkey Hill Road, Newtown, CT 4) The contractor shall maintain the roadway in a clean condition. 5) All work is to be completed in a timely matter within the start and completion date as stated in the notice to proceed letter. Bid Security when required must be by a certified check, letter of credit or surety bond for five percent (5%) of the total bid, payable to the Town of Newtown. If a surety bond is enclosed, it shall be written on AIA Document A310, Bid Bond, unless otherwise provided in the Bidding Documents, and the attorney-in-fact who executes the bond on behalf of the surety shall affix to the bond a certified and current copy of the Power of Attorney. Performance Bond when required must be by a certified check, letter of credit or performance bond for one hundred percent (100%) of the total bid. When submitting a performance bond, bonds must be written on AlA Document A312, Performance Bond and Payment Bond. Both bonds shall be written in the amount of the Contract Sum.
