The City of Englewood announces that it is soliciting qualified proposals for the Engle Street Retaining Wall replacement, Project 112073. Please Note: All RFP addenda, amendments or answers to written inquiries will be issued on the website. Therefore, all interested respondents should check the website from now through RFP opening. It is the sole responsibility of the respondent to be knowledgeable of all addenda related to this procurement. The City of Englewood is located in Bergen County, New Jersey, and is less than four miles from the George Washington Bridge. The City has a diverse population of approximately 30,000 residents within 5 square miles and serves as a hub for Northern Valley towns with its active downtown. The city contains approximately 75 miles of roads, 8 miles are considered county roads and 3 miles are owned and operated by the State. Engle Street is part of County Road 501 that stretches from palisade avenue and continues north through the neighboring borough of Tenafly. Engle Street also serves as the primary means for residents to reach Brookside Cemetery, a historical cemetery established in the late 1800's in Englewood. During tropical storm Ida a section of the cemetery retaining wall along the Engle St. failed due the hydraulic forces produced by the storm's runoff. As a result, not only was the cemetery impacted, but the wall has now created an unstable condition along the west side of Engle street.
