Brazeau County is seeking tenders for a contract crew to perform Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) ground surveys, followed by control/treatment of infected or susceptible trees and/or stands. Methodologies and survey planning will be performed in accordance with the Mountain Pine Beetle Detection and Management in Alberta document. Ground surveys will be conducted by trained contract staff using the procedures outlined in the AF document, in areas recommended by municipal staff. Data will be collected on AF data collection sheets and locations will be recorded using handheld GPS units using NAD83. Data is to be collected/provided in degrees/minutes/decimal minutes Treatment of most MPB infected or susceptible trees will be achieved through either conventional fall and burn, or conventional fall and peel. The Contractor is responsible for obtaining all permits, including Fire Permits, required for the work and the performance of its obligations under this Agreement. Control techniques will be carried out in consultation with municipal staff, AF, and the Contractor to determine the most appropriate method(s) for the sites. GPS locations of all controlled trees shall be recorded and reported in accordance with AF Guidelines. The location of work is situated within Brazeau County boundaries, in the areas designated by the County's Agricultural Services Department or designate. Work locations have been divided into three priority areas, focusing first on municipal lands in each of the three areas. As time and funds allow, work areas may be adjusted accordingly to include privately-owned lands and requests coming from landowners.
