Work on each improvement shall be commenced upon approval of the contract by the Council, and completed as stated below. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Section 26.8 of the Iowa Code and as specified by the Jurisdiction. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa domestic labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa statutes. Sales Tax. The bidder should not include sales tax in the bid. A sales tax exemption certificate will be available for all material purchased for incorporation in the project. The improvement includes reconstruction of brick sidewalks, Class A and Class B Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) sidewalks of varying thicknesses including all appurtenances, in accordance with the contract documents, at various city-wide locations in Des Moines, Iowa. Sidewalks will be replaced at locations inspected by the Engineering Department. Curb ramps that are in compliance with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 will also be constructed in the vicinity where sidewalks will be replaced. This project shall be fully completed not later than November, 2022.
