Construction of a new regional fire training facility to be located on a 40-acre parcel from (NW 10-38-05-W3M) in the Rural Municipality of Corman Park (south of the Loraas Landfill and between Highways 11 and 12). Construction will be phased: Scope of work will include: An off-street parking lot; Fire Academy 1 - classrooms, permanent administrative offices, and other associated features; Fire Academy 2; Cold Storage; The live-fire training area will include fire training structures (by SFD) and a mock streetscape to simulate real-world situations; Laydown storage area and hazmat area- Phase 1; Fire Tower Structure. SFD will procure the steel fire tower in future but need to consider its foundation pad within; Vehicle Extraction Area - need to consider its pad within; Retaining/Boat Launch for drafting training; Stormwater management facilities, including all necessary underground collection systems for phase one zone and the storm retention pond; Relocation of pump house from COS Yarrow Site to enable the use of collected stormwater for fire training activities; Covered Dive Training Pond (future); Mound / Hill - Excavator Training area (Confined space and trench rescue training area) (future); A driving course (Driver Training Circuit); Drill square near the future formal training facility; 2nd Retention Pond at the southern east "lowest elevation" corner. TIMELINE: Construction of site infrastructure has been ongoing since 2022. No further tender packages are expected to ensue.
