The work shall consist of, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: 1. Replace approximately 2,300 ft. of 8" water mains and appurtenances. 2. Furnish and maintain a temporary water system where indicated on the drawings. Each bid must be accompanied by Bid Guaranty in form of certified check or bid bond in amount of five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid. A performance bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, and labor and material payment bonds in like amount will be required prior to execution of the Agreement. Bidder must have a Falmouth excavator's license and obtain an excavation permit and comply with all rules and regulations associated with the municipal street opening ordinances. The Portland Water District will supply the Contractor with all 6" and 8" pipe. The Contractor will supply all other materials. The expected delivery date is September 15, 2022. Bidder agrees to substantially complete the work on or before November 1, 2022 and achieve final completion on or before November 15, 2022. If substantial completion is not achieved by the specified date, the Bidder further agrees to pay as liquidated damages, the sum of $500.00 for each consecutive calendar day until substantial completion is achieved. This is an emergency level project due to the high number of main breaks so it's the District intent on completing this year but if material delays prohibit 2022 completion, the contract substantial completion date and final completion will be increased to July 1, 2023 and July 15, 2023 through a change order. No bids may be withdrawn within sixty (60) days after date of opening thereof. Right is reserved to refuse or reject any or all bids or to waive any informality in proposals received and to award work at discretion of the General Manager acting in the best interests of the Portland Water District.
