HVAC Equipment Replacement and Conversion The City of Salem, Virginia, is requesting sealed bids from qualified and licensed Bidders to provide construction of the HVAC equipment replacement and conversion at the City of Salem Water Treatment Plant, in accordance with Invitation to Bid (ITB) # 2022-022. The City of Salem reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bidding. No proposal may be withdrawn after opening except for clerical errors, as set forth in Section 2.2-4330 of the Virginia Code. Offeror must give the City a notice in writing of the request to withdraw a proposal within two (2) business days after conclusion of opening. The project includes the demolition and removal of five separate split systems consisting of indoor air handling units, their back-up electric heating coils, refrigerant lines, and associated outdoor heat pumps. The existing air distribution systems including ductwork, grilles, registers, and diffusers will remain and be re-used. Modifications to the duct system will be limited to only the changes required to allow for removal of the existing units and the installation of the new units. The new indoor and outdoor units will be placed where the existing equipment is currently located. New boilers will be installed within the existing chemical storage area of the facility. Boiler intake and flue venting is to be routed through the existing exterior wall. New natural gas piping, make-up water, and drain piping will be installed to serve the boilers and equipment and be of a size sufficient to serve the maximum connected boiler equipment anticipated once all five systems have been converted to hot water heat.
