General work description: Extend 8" sanitary sewer drainage and install two sewer laterals to the R/W line on Cabell Street. The work consists of breaking into existing manholes, installation of approximately 182 linear feet of 8- inch pipe, placement of new manhole on existing 8-inch sewer, associated testing of pipe and manholes, minor grading, and restoration. The work is located on Cabell Street between Monument Street and Lynn Street. Contractors are encouraged to do business with Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) however, there is no contract requirement for DBE participation. The Contractor must obtain licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia in accordance with the requirements of Title 54.1, Chapter 11, of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended. Prevailing wages in compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act are not required on this Contract. Contract Completion Time: Complete the work within thirty (30) days from the date of Notice to Proceed. The City will open and publicly read aloud the bids at the above location immediately after the specified closing time. Submit your bid with proposal guaranty (bid bond, certified check, or cash escrow) equal to at least 5% of the bid. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularities or informalities in the bidding. An agreement will be presented to the Contractor for signature within 30 days after opening of bids if contract is to be awarded. The procedure for withdrawal of bids due to error shall be according to Virginia Administrative Code 2.2-4330
