Renovation of a municipal facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The University of Cincinnati seeks design services for repairs and restoration of the building envelope at the YMCA Building. Built in 1930, the YMCA building was purchased by the University of Cincinnati in 2005 and has remained unoccupied since the purchase. The building has been cleared of its contents and hazardous materials, and unstable interior finishes have been removed. Portions of the roof exhibiting the most serious decay have been repaired with a temporary membrane roof. This project will primarily address the remaining building envelope including masonry, windows and openings, slate roof repairs, and miscellaneous items needed to secure and stabilize the building envelope to prevent further deterioration while the University studies options for a future total building renovation. Scope of services includes reviewing the prior condition assessment and confirming the status of the building envelope in the field to identify specific areas for selective masonry restoration, design of storm windows and/or restoration of the existing window sashes, selective flashing, gutter, and slate roof repairs, and other items that pose an ongoing risk to the building envelope's integrity.
