Daniel Boone Area School District Intermediate Center Retaining Wall Restoration o Remove existing wall caps, being careful not to unduly disturb the underlying wall. Carefully remove the bricks and clean mortar from bricks removed from the wall caps. They can be used to replace other damaged bricks. Leftover bricks shall be left for the school's future use. o Clean lime run from walls using 1 cup white distilled vinegar for each gallon of hot water or an approved ecofriendly cleaner and a scrub brush. Rinse with clean water and repeat as necessary. No pressure washer use will be permitted. o After cleaning, re-lay any loose bricks using an ASTM C270, Type N, mortar. Remove any mortar lumps before relaying salvaged bricks. o Install stainless steel dowels. Drill the existing masonry to receive the dowels. Install the rods with mortar. o Install the three-part flashing system using the manufacturers recommended sealant to seal the underside of the stainless steel sheet flashing to the stainless steel drips. o Seal around the dowels to preserve the integrity of the flashing system. o Remove existing grout around the playground wall fence posts. Place new grout or mortar to secure the fence. o Install the mono-pitch cast stone caps. Install the cast stone caps without removing the fence, if possible. Seal the space between the cast stone caps and the fence posts and the adjacent walls. o Coat the finished cast stone system with a suitable siloxane water repellant.
