Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Marshalltown, Iowa. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

A public hearing will be held by Marshall County, Iowa on the proposed contract documents (plans, specifications and form ofcontract) and estimated costforthe proposed improvementsto be constructedunder Project No. 8853, Three Bridges Pedestrian Bridge Improvements, at its meeting at 5:00 P.M. local time on March 14,2022, at the Marshall County Conservation Center, 2349 233rd Street, Marshalltown, Iowa 50158. At said time and place, any interested person may appear and file objections thereto. The extent of the work will involve furnishing the labor, equipment, and materials necessary for constructing the Three Bridges Pedestrian Bridge Project in Quarry, Iowa as shown in the plans and specifications for Project No. 8853 including: Wooden Bridge Demolition, Wooden Bridge Construction, and Soil Stabilization in Marshall County. Bids will be received for a single contract including all work as specified. The work underthe contractmay actively commence afterJuly 1,2022, and shall be substantially completed by December 31,2022. This project is subject to liquidated damages as describedwithin the project manual. A Notice to Proceed will be issued to the Contractor within ten (10) business days ofthe approval ofthe construction contract. This project is subject to liquidated damages as described within the project manual. Each proposal must be accompanied with a bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the City, forthe faithful performance ofthe contract, in an amount equal to 100% ofthe amount ofthe contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount of 10%, as fixed in the Instruction to Bidders, and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws ofthe United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws ofthe United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the City and filed in an envelope separate from the one containing the proposal, made payable to: Treasurer Marshall County Conservation Board. Said check or draft may be cashed or the bid bond declared forfeited by the Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder failsto enter into a Contract within ten (10) days and post bond satisfactory to the Owner insuring the faithful fulfillment ofthe Contract and maintenance of said improvements as required by law and the Specifications. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Award of Contract Bidders shall not be permitted to withdraw their bids for a period ofsixty (60) days after the date set for opening bids. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality in the bids received in the best interest ofthe County. Bonding Requirements The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount equal to 100% ofthe contract price at the time of contract execution. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by Marshall County and shall guarantee the faithful performance ofthe contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment ofall material and labor, and protect and save harmless the Marshall County from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations ofthe contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance ofthe improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of four (4) years from the date offinal acceptance ofthe work under the Contract. Modification to the project documents may only be made by written addendum as issued by the Owner or Owner's authorized Representative. The bidder's proposal must be made on the forms provided within the bound project manual. Bidders must supply all required information prior to the time ofbid opening.
