Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

The work consists of installing approximately 1,225 linear feet of five (5) ft concrete sidewalk and approximately 150 linear feet of four (4) ft concrete sidewalk including all labor, equipment and materials. Includes installation of ten (10) ADA sidewalk ramps. Milled asphalt and granular material removed as the project progresses shall be hauled to the Shelbyville Municipal Water & Sewer Plant located at 450 Kentucky Street and stockpiled for future use by the City of Shelbyville. Bids shall be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond made payable to the City of Shelbyville in the amount not less than 5 percent of the base bid. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of 60 days after the day bids are opened. A bidder may, however, withdraw his bid at any time prior to the time and date scheduled for opening of same or any authorized postponement thereof. The Contractor shall furnish separate performance and payment bonds issued by an approved bonding company in an amount at least equal to 100 percent of the Contract Price, as security for the faithful performance of this Contract and for payment of persons performing labor and furnishing materials in connection with this Contract. These bonds shall be executed by a company authorized to do business in the State of Kentucky and shall be signed or countersigned by a Kentucky resident agent. The Contractor shall be required to obtain a Shelbyville Business License and inquire about the City of Shelbyville Employment taxes. Please refer to the Shelbyville City Hall for specific details It will be difficult, if not impossible, to determine the exact amount of damages suffered by the Owner if construction is not completed within the scheduled time frame. The Owner and Contractor establish that Liquidated Damages of $ 1000.00 per day will be assessed the Contractor for each calendar day the Owner is denied beneficial use of the project area beyond the scheduled project duration. If the project is not completed within the scheduled project duration through no fault of the Contractor, the Owner will extend the contract duration for the number of days that the Contractor could not work due to weather or other factors beyond his control. The contract shall be complete by August 5, 2022. The City of Shelbyville reserves the right to accept the bid deemed by it to be in its best interest, not necessarily the lowest bid; the right to disqualify bids from bidders not deemed to be qualified; the right to disqualify bids deemed to be defective, and the right to waive defects in bids where such defects are not deemed significant.
