The County of Schoharie, NY is initiating this Request for Proposals (RFP) to solicit responses from firms interested and proven capable to install community-wide Wi-Fi. This RFP service area is identified as the core of the Village of Schoharie, NY (Main Street). The County and Village of Schoharie are placing emphasis on 21st Century infrastructure investments in response to the Coronavirus crisis. The proposed Wi-Fi program will meet local needs by diminishing the negative impacts of future economic shock events. In the last decade, residents in the Village of Schoharie (51.88% LMI) have been over-burdened with climate and public health disaster declarations. In response to the COVID crisis, this project will enable residents to access internet services through publicly available Wi-Fi access. Benefits include: o Continuing critical remote education and telehealth services on new broadband; and o Maintaining socialization and soft skill, emotional or intellectual development which may continue to occur in the digital realm despite what may be happening in the physical world; and o Utilizing outdoor public spaces to live, work and play while enjoying healthy and safe social distances. The period of performance of any contract resulting from this RFP is tentatively scheduled to begin on or about May 30, 2022, and end on August 15, 2022. Amendments extending the period of performance, if any, shall be at the sole discretion of The County of Schoharie, NY. The County of Schoharie, NY reserves the right to request extending the contract which may require authorization of the New York State Office of Community Revitalization if the date surpasses September 8, 2022
