Renovation of a municipal facility in Columbus, Ohio. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) is seeking professional engineering services for a fire pump system replacement and in its Columbus headquarters, the William Green Building, at 30 West Spring Street. The William Green Building (WGB) opened in 1991, and the existing fire pumps and associated equipment are building original. The WGB contains 1,010,971 gross square feet. There are 33 stories above grade, and two stories below grade. The highest roof level is 557'-6" above grade. The WGB's fire protection system is currently served by two diesel-driven fire pumps. The engines are both building original and were manufactured by Detroit Diesel. They are connected to Weinman split case pumps, which are designed to flow water to the high-rise zone (Levels 14-33) and the low-rise zone (Levels B2-13). Each pump has its own separate 200- gallon fuel tank, which is filled from the building's 4,000-gallon underground storage tank. Each engine has both auto and manual start buttons and manual start actuators on the side of each engine.
