THE PROJECT IS LOCATED AT 11 SWEETBRIAR DRIVE ON THE CAMPUS OF CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY IN NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA. WORK INCLUDES THE COMPLETE REMOVAL OF THE EXISTING LOW-SLOPE ROOFING SYSTEM (GRAVEL-SURFACED COAL-TAR PITCH BUILT-UP ROOF AND SINGLE-PLY CSPE MEMBRANE ROOF), INCLUDING COVER BOARD, INSULATION, AND SUBSEQUENT GRAVEL-SURFACED BUILT-UP ROOF SYSTEMS, DOWN TO THE EXISTING METAL OR CEMENTITIOUS WOOD FIBER ROOF DECK, AND INSTALLATION OF A NEW FULLY-ADHERED REINFORCED 60 MIL SINGLE-PLY TPO MEMBRANE ROOF SYSTEM. THE ROOF SYSTEM SHALL INCLUDE PREFINISHED METAL GUTTERS AND DOWNSPOUTS, EDGE METAL FLASHINGS AND COPINGS, PRIMARY AND OVERFLOW ROOF DRAINS AND ASSOCIATED DRAIN PIPING, WOOD BLOCKING, AND ROOF-MOUNTED METAL LADDERS FOR ACCESS TO THE VARIOUS ROOF HEIGHTS. INSTALLATION OF A NEW ROOF HATCH AND ACCESS LADDER WITHIN THE BUILDING IS INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT. THE SCOPE OF WORK ALSO INCLUDES THE REPLACEMENT OF THE EXISTING CHILLER AND ASSOCIATED MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT AND SUPPORTING ELECTRICAL WORK. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS ABATEMENT IS INCLUDED IN THE SCOPE OF WORK The project is generally described as the complete removal ofthe existing low-slope roofing system (gravel-surfaced coal-tar pitch built-up roof and single-ply CSPE membrane roof), including cover board, insulation, and subsequent gravel surfaced built-up roofsystems, down to the existing metal or cementitious wood fiber roofdeck, and installation of a new fully-adhered reinforced 60 mil single-ply TPO membrane roof system. The roofsystem shall include prefinished metal gutters and downspouts, edge metal flashings and copings, primary and overflow roof drains and associate drain piping, wood blocking, and roof-mounted metal ladders for access to the various roofheights.
