The Ministry of Forests (FOR), Engineering Branch Victoria, intends to direct award a Professional Engineering Services contract for the proposed work/service in the attached Notice of Intent document. The proposed work/service is to be carried out by Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. at a contract price of less than $75,000. The anticipated term of the contract is from April 25, 2022 to March 31, 2023. The ministry may elect to renew the contract for an additional year. The contractor's qualifications required to complete the services described in the attached Notice of Intent document. Engineering Branch has chosen not to compete the contemplated contract for the following reasons: 1. Work includes updates and revisions to ministry bridge standards including drawings where Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. is the Professional of Record. 2. Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. have familiarity with the unique challenges associated with ministry standards and specifications. 3. Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. previously developed the Ministry supplement to the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code S6-06. Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. have been advising the ministry on the development of Section 3 of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code S6-19 that has been prepared by the ministry. These items will be the criterion used to determine whether the work/service will be competed. Development of ministry supplement to the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code S6-19 for resource road bridges. Development of ministry standard for lifting of bridge components. The proposed work/service is to be carried out by Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. at a contract price of less than $75,000. The anticipated term of the contract is from April 25, 2022 to March 31, 2023. The ministry may elect to renew the contract for an additional year. The contractor's qualifications required to complete the services are: Professional Engineering specialist team with expert working knowledge and understanding of: a. British Columbia resource road bridge infrastructure design and construction standards. b. FOR bridge standards and specifications. c. Applicability and variation of CSA S6 for resource road bridge infrastructure design. Demonstrated experience in resource road bridge structural design in timber, steel and concrete in British Columbia. Demonstrated extensive experience in analysis, review and development of bridge standards and specifications for broad resource road industrial sector applications. Demonstrated experience in innovation of resource road industrial bridge design standards for steel, concrete and timber. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this time.
