The objective of the project will be to identify TDM and multimodal improvement strategies to be included in corridor planning efforts to enable more effective TOD along the corridor. Examples of this includes implementing dedicated bus lanes to improve access to transit hubs, the inclusion of protected bike lanes in proposed developments and existing city roadways, bike parking in developments and public areas, coordination with local developments and businesses to assess the feasibility and awareness of current and future TDM programs like employee transit benefits and subsidy programs, and coordination with local jurisdictions about reducing parking requirements to enable TOD. One of the proposed TDM strategies is the VMT Mitigation Banking project for which MST and the City of Marina are seeking funding to study through a separate State of California funding source, the Caltrans Planning Grants Program.
