Request for bids for construction services related to the alteration of the existing Camp Lake Dam. The dam is located in the Township of Lake of Bays. Camp Lake Dam is in the Township of Lake of Bays. The Dam is located in the outlet of Camp Lake just west of Algonquin Park and north of Hwy 60. It is in the headwaters of the Big East River in the township of Lake of Bays. Ontario. It can be accessed from Huntsville via Hwy. 60 and Muskoka Road 8 (Limberlost Road) to Camp Lake Road West to dam access road. The Dam is on the North Branch of The Muskoka River upstream of Tasso Lake. It is currently not operated due to its design (part weir and emergency control structure) and it is part of the Muskoka River Water Management Plan. The current Camp Lake Dam was constructed by the Province in 1949 for recreational purposes, as well as providing levels to maintain trout spawning habitat. It replaced a previous logging dam that was present at the same location that was constructed in 1924. The dam requires modifications in order to be consistent with the loading requirements under the current Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act. The Camp Lake Dam project involve repairs, modifications and upgrades to the Camp Lake Dam. The work includes construction of a cofferdam, construction of reinforced concrete segments including a new concrete spillwall, repairs to existing concrete abutments, installation of post-tensioned anchors and steel work including structural steel walkway and operational deck, railings and log lifting gantry. Work is anticipated to commence in the Spring of 2022 and is to be completed by November 30, 2022.
