Georgia DOT is seeking to contract with a Design-Builder to provide design and construction services necessary to widen the existing two-lane section of US 278, for approximately 1.36 miles, including intersection improvements at the I-20 ramp terminals at US 278, and to construct a new frontage road between US 278 and Old Mill Road. South of I-20, US 278 shall be widened to a three-lane section with required turn lanes. North of I-20, US 278 shall be widened to a five-lane section consisting of four travel lanes, a 14-foot flush median (two way left turn lane), and rural shoulders. The work also includes the construction of a new frontage road between US 278 and Old Mill Road, paralleling I-20 to the north and consisting of four travel lanes, a 20-foot raised median, rural shoulders, and a multiuse path. Collectively, the Project is located in Morgan, Newton and Walton counties, GA.
