Renovation of an elderly care / assisted living facility in Bonnyville, Alberta. Completed plans call for the renovation of a elderly care / assisted living facility.
Supply and install for the removal and re-installationof of existing windows at the Villa Ouimet facility: 1. Removal and Re-Installatin of twenty-one (21) window. a. Carefully remove all roll-up blinds and curtain rods. Set aside to be re-installed. b. Remove all cornerbead and existing drywall return. Carefully cut-out drywall return cornerbeads from interior edge. c. Carefully remove all existing interior wooden sills. Set aside to be re-installed. d. Remove all existing insulation from around the window so that the window is free from wood framing. e. Carefully remove all exterior wall trim and set aside to be re-installed. f. Carefully remove window fasteners and remove windows. Set aside to be re-installed. g. Examine window opening for any protrusions. Remove and clean as needed. h. Examine building wrap to ensure that it is extended over wood frames. i. Remove damaged buildaing wrap amd install new building wrap taped approximately 1" on the exterior wall and 6" into the window opening frame. 2. Re-Installation of existing window a. Carefully inspect the rough opening to make sure all materials and wall pieces are in good condition. At this stage, necessary repairs can be made to prevent window issues from reoccurring. Adjust the opening to ensure effective, durable support for the window. b. Shims should be installed at the quarter points of the sill and sides, at a maximum of 16" apart on the sill and at a maximum of 24" apart on the sides of the vinyl window. They are not normally used at the head of the window.The installer should use quality shims, not wood scraps, to ensure the window is level and adjust it so that it is perfectly square level and plumb. Also, in order to assure the good functioning, the window corners must be at an exact 90 angle (square). c. Once confirming window installed square, level and plumb and window is operating properly, secure windows in place. d. Examine all exterior trim and repair or replace as required. Using exterior paint, repaint as needed to match existing colors. e. Reinstall all exterior trim, seal edges by caulking with waterproof exterior caulking. f. Insulate cavity between window and wood framing, using a low pressure polyurethane foam sealant. g. Re-install all interior wooden sills. Fill and stain/varnish to match existing finish. h. Install backing shims as required, new moisture, and mold resistant 1/2 " drywall return fitted to the window frame. i. Install new cornerbead on interior window frame edges; install tape, joint compound and sand joint to a smooth finish and ready for painting. j. Paint new drywall with one coat of primer and two coats of interior paint. Paint is to be an interior type and to match existing colors. k. Paint complete wall affected to each corner to match existing colours. l. Caulk window/drywall junction. m. Re-Install roll-up blinds and curtain rods. 3. Cleaning a. Clean and tidy the work area at the end of each day, which means to remove all construction debris and leave the work area clean. Windows to be removed and re-installed
