Demolition, site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Design plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
As of February 12, 2024, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the preliminary design stage. It is anticipated construction will start in 2027. The proposed project includes the replacement of US Route 6 over the Acushnet River, this is a movable span bridge. The existing Route 6 corridor will be maintained. A full roadway closure and detour at the movable span will be necessary during portions of the project. The Navigation Channel will be maintained through short-term closures.
