Project Awarded to USA Waste of California Inc The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District (Metro Fire or the District) is requesting bids from qualified companies (Bidders or Contractors) for the provision of solid waste, organic/food waste, and mixed recycling collection and disposal services (Services). Required Services will be performed at multiple Metro Fire facilities located throughout the District's jurisdiction. To be eligible to submit a bid, Bidders shall possess a current and valid commercial solid waste hauler franchise issued by the County of Sacramento. The awarded Bidder shall provide the requested Services in accordance with the requirements specified in this RFB. Prior to submitting a bid, Bidders are advised to carefully read this RFB in its entirety. Metro Fire is a Special District of the County of Sacramento, operating under an elected Board of Directors. In 2000, Metro Fire was formed through a Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) approved process. As the seventh largest fire district in the State of California, Metro Fire serves a population of over 738,000 and has a land area of 359 square miles. It is located in Sacramento County, California and provides services to the Cities of Rancho Cordova and Citrus Heights, in addition to unincorporated areas of the County. District facilities currently requiring solid waste collection services include 42 fire stations, three support services locations, and three administrative buildings. Nearly half of these locations also receive mixed recycling collection services. Additionally, due to SB 1383, nearly all locations will require organic waste collection services.
