The south elevator will be fully replaced and a new north elevator will be constructed in the vicinity of the former retail shop area. Exterior work includes widening of the east entrances to the mezzanine undercroft which flank the grand stair; the enlargement of the existing vent on the north side to provide a new means of egress; demolition and partial replacement of the Raised Terrace structural concrete slab, sod, and the installation of new waterproofing over new structural concrete. The work also includes the phased installation of waterproofing under the upper landing and run of the existing granite and marble grand main stairs that lead up to the Statuary Chamber.
