The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) operates a wastewater collection and treatment system at Delaware State Park located at 5202 US Route 23 N., Delaware, Ohio 43015 in Delaware County. The wastewater system was originally constructed in 1968 with an expansion in 1971. The collection system consists of a network of approximately 20,000 LF of 6-inch and 8-inch gravity sewers, 8 duplex lift stations, and approximately 16,000 LF of force main serving various locations within the park. ODNR recently completed an Inflow/Infiltration (I/I) rehabilitation project including manhole rehabilitation, sewer relining, new sewers, and point repairs to aid in reducing overall flows. As part of this project, all 8 lift stations were rehabilitated in one way or another including new pumps and rails, valve vaults, and control panels. The wastewater treatment system as originally constructed is comprised of a four 30,000 gallon per day parallel train extended aeration treatment system that discharges to a tertiary treatment lagoon located approximately 2,000 feet downstream of the chlorine contact tank at the end of the treatment system. Currently only a single 30,000 gallon per day train is operated within the treatment plant as 120,000 gallons per day far exceeds the wastewater flows. There is one small building at the treatment facility housing blowers. All components of the treatment facility and lagoon are in poor condition and a complete replacement is in order.
