Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Chestertown, Maryland. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The Town of Chestertown will receive sealed bids for the milling and resurfacing of multiple streets in the Town of Chestertown, Maryland. Contractors will be expected to show evidence of their ability to perform a project of this size in the time prescribed as well as evidence of liability insurance, Maryland Workman's Compensation insurance and General Risk insurance. The Town of Chestertown is an equal opportunity employer and reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The Town of Chestertown intends to mill and repave various streets inside the Town limits. The Town will use the Maryland State Highway specifications for milling and repaving. Milling will be to a nominal depth of 1" across the entire street width as it is currently paved (Whether curb to curb or gutter pan to gutter pan) and will be the property of the Contractor. Resurfacing will be 1.5" nominally across the entire street as it was previously paved. Asphalt mix used will MD SHA approved SHA 9.5mm PG64s-22. Contractor to provide the MD approved mix design prior to paving. Compaction to be per Section 504 of the most current version, at the time of bid, of the MD SHA Standards and Specifications, (except where the Town specifically waives vibratory compaction due to the presence of underground utilities or historic homes). Contractor to provide density gauge readings at two locations per block paved, at locations no closer than 100 feet apart. The Contractor will be expected to raise or lower all valves and manhole covers to be flush with the final pavement. Any existing road paint including center lanes or parking space markings will be repainted with the final project. All streets in Phase 1 of this contract must be resurfaced by December 1, 2022. The Contractor must show evidence of the ability and equipment to perform this work in the time limit specified. An equipment list, asphalt plant location, previous highway work and certification of ability to perform the work shall be submitted. A bid bond of 5% will be required. Performance bonding will not be required, but Contractors will only be paid after completing entire road sections as bid and then only following Town approval of each section. The Contactor in bidding certifies that he/she understands and has complied with all the requirements in the bid document. The Town of Chestertown is and equal opportunity employer and reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids. The Contractor will supply evidence of insurance to the Town. The insurance required will be liability in the amount of at least $1,000,000, Maryland Workman's Compensation, and General Risk. Evidence shall be submitted with the bid documents. The Town Manager or his representative from their engineer shall approve all work for quality and for payment. The location and time of any random testing shall be at their sole discretion. The Contractor shall be responsible for permanently raising and lowering all water and sewer lids and covers to the satisfaction of the Chestertown Utilities Commission. Risers may not be used on overlay projects. The Contractor is also responsible for any damage to all utilities and for contacting Miss Utilities. Any other avoidable damage to the existing curbs, gutters will be repaired by the Contractor using the SHA guidelines. The Contractor is not responsible for the repair of damage or deterioration of currently substandard curbs and gutters and will document those areas to the owner prior to the start of construction.
