Desert Center Unified School District (District) is seeking sealed bids from qualified, experienced, and licensed construction contractors for construction of the following public project (Project): Desert Center Unified School District intents to refurbish, remodel, and modernize three (3) existing residential mobile home units on the District's Eagle Mountain School site. These existing residential mobile home units are utilized as District staff housing due to the remote location of the Eagle Mountain School. These are non DSA units. This project is a District Deferred Maintenance Prevailing Wage Project. The project includes but is not limited to: (a) selected demolition; (b) rough and finish carpentry repair; (c) wall repair; (d) drywall; (e) flooring; (f) cabinet/casework replacement; (g) painting (interior and exterior); (h) rough & finish electrical upgrades; (i) rough & finish plumbing upgrades; (j) rough & finish HVAC upgrades; (k) roofing repair and replacement; (l) window treatments; (m) door replacement; (n) lock repair and finish hardware replacement; (o) exterior stucco; (p) widow replacement; (q) equipment replacement; (r) insulation. Work also includes exterior stair, landing and porch repair and replacement. Each bid must be submitted with bid security as described in the Instructions For Bidders. The class or classes of California contractor licenses required to bid on and perform the Work are: Bid Package No. 1 Electrical C10, Bid Package No. 2 Plumbing C36, Bid Package No. 3 HVAC C20 , Bid Package No. 4 Exterior and Selected Interior Demolition B license, and Bid Package No. 5 Finishes B License. The award of the Contract will be based on base bid. As described in the General Provisions, the successful bidder must provide a Performance Bond and a separate Payment Bond, each in an amount equal to 100% of the total Contract Price, and each issued by a California admitted surety as defined in Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120. LABOR LAW: The Project is a public work that is subject to, among other laws, Labor Code Sections 1720 through 1861, inclusive. As described in the Instructions For Bidders, each contractor (including subcontractors) must be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) in accordance with Labor Code Section 1725.5, and bidders must provide evidence of registration for themselves and their subcontractors. Each worker on the Project must be paid not less than the applicable prevailing rates of per diem wages in the locality in which the Work is to be performed for each craft or type of worker needed to execute the Contract (Prevailing Wages). A copy of the applicable rates of Prevailing Wages is on file and available for review at the Place for Submitting Bids, and a copy will be posted at the Project Site. The Project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the DIR. The successful bidder will be required to post all jobsite notices required by DIR regulations and other applicable law. If so specified in the Special Provisions, the District will conduct a mandatory conference for the purpose of describing laborlaw requirements. RETENTION: Substitution of securities in lieu of Retention, pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 22300, will be permitted as provided in the General Provisions.
