Site work for a municipal facility in Courtenay, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a municipal facility.

The CVRD requires the installation of an underground fibre optic cable between the CVRD main office located at 770 Harmston Avenue, Courtenay and the West Courtenay Reservoir located at 3619 Lake Trail Road, Courtenay. The total distance is approximately 3,576 meters of which 870 meters are in existing ducts and will be occurring alongside active city streets. The fibre build has four sections: Section A The existing duct system between the West Courtenay water reservoir building to the existing pull box on Lake Trail Rd and Marsden Rd (see Diagram A). Installation of 1 x 48 strand single-mode fibre cable in an existing. The approximate length of the run is 320 meters. Subducting: the micro-cable requires protection when installed in a standard conduit with an HDPE 14mm/18 mm subduct The fibre in section A terminates via Lake Trail Road-Marsden Road pull box through an existing duct to a new rack mount LC fibre patch panel at the West Reservoir Booster Station. 36 Fibres will be terminated. Section B The existing pull box Lake Trail Road-Marsden Road pull box to the demarcation pull box near the existing pull box on Courtenay Public works yard (see Diagram B). Installation of 1 x 48 strand single-mode fibre optic line conduit system. The approximate length of the run is 2,623 meters. The conduit type is a four-channel 14/18 LiteAccess or Duraline micro duct. The fibre system will be buried in the roadway ROW using a minimum trench depth indicated on the Issued For Construction drawings. Installation of a demarcation pull box besides the existing pull box on the Public Works Yard. Section C The existing pull box at Courtenay Public works yard to the Existing pull box at the intersection of Grant Ave. and Cumberland Rd (see Diagram C). Installation of 1 x 48 strand single-mode fibre optic line in an existing 100 mm duct system. The approximate length of the run is 505.3 m. Subducting: the micro-cable requires protection when installed in a standard conduit with an HDPE 14mm/18 mm subduct CAUTION: The existing duct contains an active fibre optic cable Section D Courtenay fibre pull box at Grant Ave. and Cumberland Rd. to CVRD building (see Diagram D). Installation of 1 x 48 strand single-mode fibre optic line conduit system. The approximate length of the run is 85 meters. Installation of a demarcation pull box at the intersection of Grant Ave. and Cumberland Rd The conduit type is a four-channel 14/18 LiteAccess or Duraline micro duct. The fibre system will be buried in the roadway using a minimum trench depth indicated on the Issued For Construction drawings. The fibre in section D terminates at CVRD Comm. Room via an existing duct at the Grant Ave side of building. 36 Fibres to be terminated in CVRD communication room in a rack mount LC fibre patch panel
