Thorhild County is seeking proposals to carry out a Road Network and Sidewalk Study. The approximate length of all roads is 1,330km, which consist of 25km of paved road, with the remainder gravel. Thorhild County has 7 Hamlets within its boundaries, as well as country residential subdivisions. Thorhild County wishes to engage an engineering consultant to provide a road study for capital planning and budgeting purposes. The intent of the study is to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the entire road and sidewalk network for the County. The County's objectives for the road study are to: Establish a long-term road infrastructure construction program by assessing and prioritizing the roads within the county. Determine the classification of existing roadway and sidewalk segments (Urban, Collector, Arterial, Local, Resource). Through visual inspection, create a cost effective, updatable database capable of adjusting to suit Council/Administrative priorities. Road ratings will be established for both unpaved and paved roadways and sidewalks. Ratings can be tailored to the County's wishes but will assess such items as roadway geometry, surface condition, drainage, and any other criteria the County feels is important. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
