Demolition and site work for a mixed-use development in Tacoma, Washington. Completed plans call for the demolition of a educational facility.

The Tacoma School District #10 (TSD) has a need for qualified demolition contractors to demolish the existing Pool Building & Library and Classroom (West Wing) at the former Gault Middle School. 1. Pool Building - Approximately 16,000 SF structure that is masonry and wood framed on a concrete slab. The first level of the pool building is masonry as the upper pool walls are wood framed with a wood/ metal trussed plywood ceiling covered with an asphaltic rolled roofing. The pool and structure was built in 1987 and leased by Tacoma Metro Parks until October 31st, 2018. At the end of the lease the pool was closed due to old equipment and a failing roof. A portion of the roof failed and collapsed into the pool in the winter of 2019. Wood shoring and stabilization was installed under the direction of the Washington Risk Management Pool and an engineering consultant firm to support the remaining roof structure. The pool depth goes to approximately 18 feet below grade. Masonry materials are identified in the 1924 structure (Main Building) and in the late 1980's Pool Building structure. The Pool Building masonry needs to be removed without compromising the masonry of the Main Building structure. Masonry stabilization will need to be performed prior to demo of pool walls from main structure. (i.e. 20 depth pool backfill). Fully demolish, load, haul, and dispose of existing Pool Building and associated above ground and below ground structures and improvements. 2. Library and classroom Wing (West Wing) - Approximately 18,950 SF consisting of three connected structures Two of the structures are built with wood framing and siding on concrete Foundation with asphaltic rolled roofing and silver coat. The northern most section is on 6,256 square foot of concrete. The library and classroom wing consists of three old, attached, modular, military structures that were donated in 1958 by Fort Lewis. Asbestos containing materials and Lead paint were identified in the Hazards materials assessment. Fully demolish, load, haul, and dispose of existing Library and Classrooms Wing (West Wing) and associated above ground and below ground structures and improvements.
