Site work for a water / sewer project in Westerly, Rhode Island. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The work defined in this ITB consists of stormwater drainage improvements along Wildflower Drive located within the Town of Westerly, Rhode Island. During the summer of 2021, the Town contracted Inland Waters to conduct closed-circuit television (CCTV) inspections of the stormwater drainage network on Wildflower Drive. A description of the scope of work for the proposed stormwater drainage improvements is provided below. Wildflower Drive is located in a residential area between the Westerly Airport and the Dunns Corner section of Westerly. The proposed improvements shall include removing and replacing six sections of 15-inch diameter corrugated metal pipe (CMP) with 15-inch diameter dual-wall highdensity polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, rebuilding three catch basins, and replacement of frame and grates at two catch basins. The location of all proposed pipe and structure improvements are shown on the drawings included in this ITB. All new HDPE pipe shall be installed at the invert elevations of the existing CMP. The locations of the 15-inch diameter CMP proposed for replacement are as follows: o 29 feet between the catch basins located adjacent to the properties at 15 Wildflower Drive and 16 Wildflower Drive; o 358 feet between the catch basins located adjacent to the properties at 12 Wildflower Drive and 16 Wildflower Drive; o 29 feet between the catch basins located adjacent to the properties at 11 Wildflower Drive and 12 Wildflower Drive; o 52 feet between the catch basin located at the corner of Wildflower Drive and Urso Drive and the catch basin located on Wildflower Dr adjacent to the 5 Urso Drive property; o 287 feet between the catch basin located on Wildflower Dr adjacent to the 5 Urso Drive property and the catch basin located adjacent to the property at 3 Wildflower Drive; and, o 380 feet between the catch basins located adjacent to the properties at 3 Wildflower Drive and 11 Wildflower Drive. Prior to commencement of construction and throughout the duration of the project, the Contractor shall install and maintain inlet sediment control devices in all catch basins located downgradient and adjacent to work areas and areas of disturbed soils. Straw wattles shall also be placed and secured along the edge of the road at the limit of disturbance. Reclaimed on-site subsurface materials may be reused as gravel borrow pending compliance with the Contract Documents and with approval from the Town Engineer. The Contractor shall be responsible for removal and legal disposal of any excess or unsuitable soils generated during the project. All trenches shall be backfilled and/or covered and secured at the end of each day's work and prior to weekends. Temporary stockpiling of soil within the Town right-of-way is not permissible unless approved by the Town Engineer. Temporary asphalt patching shall consist of 3-inches of compacted Class 9.5 HMA, and shall be placed prior to each weekend, at a minimum. The roads are slated for resurfacing by reclamation (under a separate contract) later this year, so it is anticipated that the straw wattles and/or inlet sediment control devices will remain in place following the completion of the drainage improvements project. For any discrepancies or conflicting information provided within the ITB documents, the Bidder/Contractor shall defer to the judgement of the Town Engineer. The Contractor will be required to include all incidental costs associated with general conditions, bond costs, insurance costs, administrative costs, permit fees, mobilization, maintenance and protection of traffic, identification and protection of existing utilities, identification of project limits, traffic signage, drums, barrels, cones, furnishment and placement of construction materials, off-site disposal of construction debris and any surplus materials, compaction, as required by regulation or code or as directed by the Engineer; within the unit prices submitted as part of the general bid within the accompanying Bid Form.
