Only general contractors and who have completed the pre-qualification process and are certified as qualified will be eligible to bid. Qualification and approval criteria may be obtained from the Architect upon letterhead request and is intended to identify responsible and competent general contractors relative to the requirements of the project. Completed applications for pre-qualification must be received by the Architect by Wednesday, May 18th, 2022 at 12 p.m. local time. No further requests will be considered after this date and time. The Owner reserves the right to waive technical errors in pre-qualification applications or abandon the prequalification process in whole or in part, should the interests of the Owner appear to be promoted thereby. Project consists of the replacement of nine (9) existing rooftop units with new packaged gas/electric rooftop units at the Birmingham Campus. The project also includes replacing four (4) existing air handlers with four (4) new fan-coil units in existing mechanical rooms and the replacement of fourteen (14) existing water-source heat pump units in existing mechanical rooms at the Bessemer Campus. Other sets for general contractors, and sets for subcontractors and suppliers, may be purchased from Alabama Graphics at cost. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Architect; the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner's judgment, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The upgrades consist of the following parts: a. Building E, Birmingham West Campus - replacement of nine (9) existing rooftop units with new pre-purchased packaged gas/electric rooftop units at the Birmingham Campus. The Contractor shall stockpile the existing units on the existing property as indicated on the Drawings for the Owner's use, taking care not to damage the existing units in the process. b. Building A, Bessemer Campus - replacement of four (4) existing air handlers with four (4) new pre-purchased fan-coil units in existing mechanical rooms in Bessemer Building A. The Contractor shall dispose of the existing air handlers. c. Building F (Millsap), Bessemer Campus - replacement of fourteen (14) existing water-source heat pump (WSHP) units with fourteen (14) new pre-purchased WSHP's in existing mechanical rooms in Bessemer Building F. The Contractor shall dispose of the existing WSHP's.
