It is the intent of the City of Virginia Beach to procure a contractor to perform fence/guard rail removal and to install new timber guard rail for the City of Virginia Beach. Our goal is to establish a three (3) year annual service contract with the option of two (2) one (1) year renewals upon mutual agreement of both parties Removal types: Wood Rail Fencing Sizes & Timber guard: 1. 3' tall 2 rail pressure treated pine wood fencing. Removal Per Linear ft. 2. 4' tall 3 rail pressure treated pine wood fencing. Removal Per Linear ft. 3. Old timber guard rail. Removal Per Linear ft. Vinyl Coated Chain Link Fencing Sizes: 1. 4' tall vinyl coated or galv. chain link fencing. Removal Per Linear ft. 2. 6' tall vinyl coated or galv. chain link fencing. Removal Per Linear ft. New Timber Guard Rail Specifications: 1.1 Wooden Guardrail: A Posts will be 8" x 8" x 4'-6" long; pressure treated pine with a chamfered top. B Rails will be 4" x 8" x 10' long maximum length; pressure treated pine. C Footings for posts shall be minimum 16" diameter with a depth of 2'-6". Posts shall be 2' in the ground on 6" aggregate base (21 A Stone). Concrete will be class A3 type and shall be chamfered/formed to direct water to run away from post. (See attached detail) D Fasteners/hardware will be hot dipped galvanized. (bolt threads must not be more than 1/2" past nut). E All posts will have a 2" diameter hole drilled through, 6-inches above finish grade. F Posts and rails will be minimum grade 2 lumber. G Wood is sourced locally, within a 1000 km radius
