Description of work: painting: 1. Provide protection required to complete the work as follows. 2. Plan (4) stages of work. Work plan to be approved by owner prior to start of site work. 3. Power wash the structure per uc berkeley water protection policy 4. Prepare surfaces scheduled to be painted as required to receive new paint. Scrap & sand as needed to remove loose or flacking existing paint. Prepare surfaces in accordance with paint manufacturer's requirements for new paint over existing concrete, metals (conduit, ducting,..,) and painted surfaces. 5. Paint; walls, columns, surface mounted metals and ceiling slab. Life safety systems are not to be painted. 6. All existing painted graphics & signage are scheduled to remain and protected in place. 7. (3) brush outs shall be provided as deferred submittals. Color to be selected by owner. Brush out will consist of a spectrum based on matching the existing. 8. Provide all labor, equipment and material to provide new paint on interior existing painted surfaces and unpainted doors. 9. Tinted primer and a minimum of (2) coats is required; provide additional coats as required to achieve uniform new color. The coverage of the finished painted surfaces shall be complete with no shadowing of previous colors. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: "C-33" - Painting and Decorating Contractor The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $13 per hour as of 10/1/15, $14 per hour as of 10/1/16, and $15 per hour as of 10/1/17) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
