Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, project letting is not expected to start prior to December of 2023 and construction is not expected to start prior to May of 2024. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Saginaw County Road Commission (SCRC) is requesting proposals for Engineering Services for the design of a Federal Aid Project within Saginaw County. For scheduling purposes and a design timeline, the project should be submitted to the Michigan Department of Transportation in anticipation of December 2023 letting date. This Road project includes the design of approximately 2 miles of roadway improvements through Carrollton Township. Michigan is primarily a 2 lane NHS Route Other Principle Arterial carrying approximately 8560 vehicles per day. The project shall be designed according to 3R/4R standards and in accordance with a typical MDOT Federal-Aid project. Our vision of the project is a to mill & fill approximately 3.5" with two lifts of HMA. The project limits should include the entire Shattuck Road Intersection. The south bound concrete portion north of Weiss is not part of this project. The existing road is Curb and Gutter. Some curb will require replacement and all sidewalk approaches will need to meet ADA requirements. We believe the project can be designed using a Log Job and some special details. The RR crossing was recently re-constructed and it is anticipated that the roadway between the rails will be left in place but the approaches will be redone to provide a smooth transition. Coordination with the RR will be needed but we do not anticipate any work will be needed to be completed by the RR. Any easements determined necessary throughout the course of design would be considered an additional service and the cost for which would be negotiated during the course of the design project. For purposes of clarifying the scope, it can be assumed that there will be no easements that will need to be obtained at this time. The Saginaw County Road Commission, through its MPO has allotted a construction budget of $ 312,500 for the mill and fill project. The design shall follow a critical path to meet a proposed letting date no later than December 2023. The estimated start of construction likely be May 2024.
