Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 99,000-square-foot, two-story above grade industrial development; and municipal facility.
The proposed Burnside Operations Centre will provide Halifax Water employees with a modern workplace that will accommodate water, wastewater, and stormwater operations groups servicing the specific and surrounding areas of Bedford, Sackville, Dartmouth, Eastern Passage, and Cole Harbour from one combined facility. The scope of this project is to design and construct an operations centre that will provide Halifax Water with a modern workplace with flexibility for a diverse workforce and for future utility growth (see Annex F - Project Budget for further details). The proposed building will be a mixed-use facility combining office space, workshops, and vehicle maintenance areas. The building is described as a light industrial complex to be located at Jennett Avenue in the Burnside Business Park. The Burnside Operations Centre will be completed through an integrated project delivery ("IPD") method. The IPD team will be responsible for delivering all labour and materials to design, construct, and commission this facility. The building will be located at Lot 1248B Jennett Ave in the Burnside Business Park, near the intersection of Jennett and Burbridge Avenues. *Current estimated cost is $89 million ($37-million increase since February 2023).
