In October 2014, the Riverside Greenway Trail project was completed. This provided 1.6 miles of trail for off-road cycling and walking between Sunnyside Park and Tall Pines Drive. This trail has been enjoyed by the local neighborhood, Bates College Students as well as, nature and exercise enthusiasts within and outside Lewiston. This trail extension would provide another segment of the Greenway Trail along the Androscoggin River from where the Greenway Trail from Sunnyside meets the Androscoggin River to West Bates. Year one is design and permitting only. Construction would be scheduled in 2025, and include a 10' wide asphalt surface. A small open landscaped area on both sides of this new section would identify this new section of the trail. Other amenities would include benches, dog stations, signage, trash receptacles and some off-street parking. This project is in included in the City of Lewiston FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of May 14, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
