Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Moville, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
Pavement removal, 8" PCC paving, 7" PCC paving, driveway and sidewalk paving, Water Main, Storm Sewer, Intake Structures, Sanitary Sewer Manhole Replacement, Fill, and other items will also be necessary to complete the project. The City of Moville is bidding a reconstruction project for Frontage Road (next to Highway 20). The project includes putting in a 27' wide street, some parking, driveways, sidewalk, retaining wall, water main, sanitary manhole reconstruction, storm sewer, and other items. The paving is as follows: 6,011 SY 8" PCC 1,288 SY 7" PCC 247 SY 6" PCC 4,413 SF of 6" Sidewalk Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cashier's check or certified check drawn on a state-chartered or federally chartered bank, or a certified share draft drawn on a state-chartered or federally chartered credit union, or a bidder's bond with corporate surety satisfactory to the City in an amount equal to Ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the proposal. If bid bond is submitted, it must be in the form provided in these specifications. Said check or share draft may be cashed, or the bid bond forfeited as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a contract within ten (10) days of issuance of a Notice of Award and post bond satisfactory to the City insuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract and maintenance of said improvements as required by law. The bid bond should be executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, and must not contain any conditions either in the body or as an endorsement thereon. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred per cent (100%) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and the maintenance of said improvements in good repair for not less than three (3) years for paving two (2) years for utilities from the time of acceptance of said improvements by the City. The work is to be done in 4 phases with 25 working days for each phase. The Fair Street pavement must be completed with 15 working days as this is one of the main routes into town. The work on this project shall commence within ten (10) days after receipt by the contractor of a written notice to proceed, and shall be substantially completed by June 15, 2025. Liquidated damages in the amount of Five hundred dollars ($500) per calendar day will be assessed for each day that the work shall remain uncompleted beyond the completion date or beyond the number of working days for each phase of the project, with due allowance for extensions of the contract period due to conditions beyond control of the Contractor. The City reserves the right to defer acceptance of any proposal for a period not to exceed sixty (60) calendar days from the date of hearing and letting. The Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. SCOPE OF WORK 4-01 ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS: If the instructions and Plans are not sufficiently clear to permit the Contractor to proceed with the work, the Engineer shall, either upon his own initiative or upon the request of the Contractor, furnish additional written instructions, together with additional drawings as may be necessary. When such request is made by the Contractor, it must be in ample time to permit the preparation of the instructions and drawings by the Engineer before the construction of the work covered by them is undertaken. Such additional instructions and drawings shall be consistent with the Contract Documents and shall have the same force and effect as if contained in the Contract Documents. For the purpose of avoiding delays in the preparation of such additional instructions and drawings, the Engineer and the Contractor shall jointly prepare a schedule showing the time for the commencement of the work to be included in them and the time the Contractor shall furnish the necessary shop drawings which may be necessary for their preparation. The Contractor shall do no work without proper drawings or instructions and shall, at his own expense, replace any work wrongly executed. Copies of said plans and specifications and form of contract are now on file in the office of the City Clerk in City Hall, for examination by bidders. Copies may be obtained from True Engineering & Land Surveying, LLC, 325 Howard Rd, Moville, Iowa, 51039 (Phone 712-870-9789) which shall be returned within fourteen days after award of the project. PROJECT - Frontage Road Improvement Project Bid includes - Removals, Grading, Water, Sanitary Sewer, Storm Sewer, and Paving Improvements as indicated on the plans.
