Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Barrie, Ontario. Design plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
Whiskey Creek Culvert and Channel Improvements in the Whiskey Creek floodplain from the outlet at Kempenfelt Bay to just upstream of The Boulevard to Brennan Avenue . Key considerations of the assessment include impacts to property, existing infrastructure, emergency access, transportation routes, and natural heritage. The existing washroom/generator building must be relocated, to remove it from erosion hazard associated with Whiskey creek and to reduce the frequency of the building floods. A replacement of the washroom/generator building is planned in the short-term. TIMELINE: Designs are ongoing. Utility relocation work is underway at Whiskey Creek. Enbridge is scheduled to mobilize in late July/early August to complete gas main relocations. Once gas main relocations are complete, Alectra will mobilize to undertake the required hydro pole relocations. These relocations are needed to facilitate the upcoming construction work at Whiskey Creek. Tender timeline will be finalized at a later date. Anticipated construction - 2028/2029. Further update in early 2027. *Construction cost is unreleased for publication.
