Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Barrie, Ontario. Design plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
Whiskey Creek Culvert and Channel Improvements in the Whiskey Creek floodplain from the outlet at Kempenfelt Bay to just upstream of the Boulevard. The key considerations of the assessment include impacts to property, existing infrastructure, emergency access, transportation routes, and natural heritage. The existing washroom/generator building must be relocated, to remove it from erosion hazard associated with Whiskey creek and to reduce the frequency of the building floods. A replacement of the washroom/generator building is planned. TIMELINE: The Consultant completed an Environmental Assessment which assessed solutions to mitigate flooding between the Boulevard and Kempenfelt Bay. A replacement building is planned in the short-term (1-5 years). Design is expected to proceed through 2025 and 2026. Tender for pre-construction will be issued late 2026/early 2027. Construction is anticipated to proceed through 2028 and 2029.
