Site work and paving for a road / highway in Boston, Massachusetts. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
As of January 23, 2023, information regarding the award and award date has not been disclosed. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is soliciting architectural and engineering services to provide Design Services for the Blue Hill Avenue Corridor Improvement Project. The Scope of Services includes but is not limited to designing infrastructure improvements related to roadway and traffic signal engineering, pedestrian safety and accessibility, pedestrian amenities, bicycle facilities, community-oriented design, activation of public space, bus lanes and stations, bus stop accessibility, urban forestry needs, and general Complete Streets improvements to support the City of Boston's community-led design process for the corridor. The duration of this contract will be four (4) years. The City of Boston is supporting a community-led design process for the Blue Hill Avenue (BHA) Corridor from Grove Hall to Mattapan Square. This project is intended to rethink how BHA supports the community in a variety of ways, including its transportation needs, economic development, community space, public art, and other key needs defined by the community. The MBTA is planning to support the City of Boston in delivering the BHA's community design after the public engagement process has gathered enough feedback to support a concept design. For the MBTA, this means that the Authority needs to begin identifying design teams across the region with the right skill sets to hit the ground running to move the concepts forward through the design development and final design stages in partnership with the City and the community. In order to deliver a timely project to the community and avoid delay to the community process, the MBTA has released the 'Request for Qualifications' (RFQ). The RFQ is the first step of a two-step process, with the second step being issuance of a 'Request for Proposals' (RFP) that will be released with input and guidance from the community led process later this year. The current RFQ process (first step) is identifying which design teams are available for this crossfunctional type of work and what skills and expertise they can bring to the process, and whether each design team is capable and prepared to move on to the RFP process (second step). Given that the MBTA's two-step RFQ and RFP process could take nearly a year to complete, the MBTA and City of Boston determined that it is timely to begin the first step of this process now to begin identifying design teams who could be adept partners on the City of Boston's community led design process. Step two of this process will be forthcoming later this year when the community, City of Boston, and MBTA determine that the design is ready to move forward.
