The Van Buren Intermediate School District is now accepting bids for the paving and striping of multiple areas totaling approximately 8,000 square feet (50 x 60) located at or near 635 Blackman Street, Lawrence, MI 49064 as outlined in the Specifications. The Van Buren Intermediate School District reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive any irregularities which it deems to be in the best interest of Van Buren Intermediate School District, and the right to award the contract to other than lowest bidder. Project start date will begin after the school year (approximately June 21st, 2022) or will be negotiated after the bid opening to save cost. Must be completed before September 1st, 2022. Provide labor and materials to remove existing asphalt to a depth of 4" and haul from the site. Fine grade for proper water flow. Furnish and place 2.5" average compacted thickness of 13A bas modified bituminous asphalt material. Apply bond coat for proper adhesion. Furnish and place 1.5" average compacted thickness of 13A top modified bituminous asphalt material. "Birdbaths or water ponding" (i.e. the lack of total surface drainage) will cause the rejection of specific areas of paving, requiring repair and/or replacement. The cause of this failure will be determined by the engineer and Owner, with repairs to be performed as directed by the Owner. Repairs due to installations performed by this contractor shall be performed at the expense of the contractor. Repairs that may be required due to work performed by other trades shall be at that trade expense. Cooperate with all third-party inspections as scheduled by the Owner. All Right-of-Way permits by the Owner. Awarded bidder shall apply asphalt paving materials to the aggregate base course as and where indicated in accordance with specifications. Aggregate base course shall be graded to within +/- 0.05 foot. Review and accept conditions of subgrade prior to mobilization. Fine grading of aggregate base course prior to placement of asphalt paving materials shall be performed by the asphalt pavingcontractor. Fine grading must be completed in a manner to guarantee the uniform thickness of the paving layers. Fine grading shall be performed to assure that the grade and slope are completely uniform over the entire paved area and at catch basins, ramps, etc., such that no irregularity to adjacent surfaces are present. If irregularities, "dips or lips" are noted, it will be the responsibility of this subcontractor to remove, repair, and replace any such conditions satisfactory to the Owner, at the contractor's expense.
